The Department of Health continues to urge public vigilance as South Africa confirmed its 25th Mpox case (NCID, 9th September 2024)

This latest case, a 38-year-old man from Cape Town, tested positive after presenting at a private clinic. He has no recent travel history or known contact with any confirmed cases. The provincial outbreak response team are conducting contact tracing.
 
Since May, 25 cases and 3 deaths have been recorded in the country, with Gauteng recording twelve, KwaZulu-Natal eleven, and the Western Cape now with two cases.
