The HPCSA updated its guidelines in December 2023. If you need more information, we covered the high-level changes here, and you can listen to a very informative Podcast we had with Lisa Reid from the South African Medical Association.

The Medical Education Network is an independent medical education and information publishing company.
We offer a range of high-quality, clinically-robust CPD content to support the professional development of healthcare practitioners.
We obtain accreditation for our activities from the South African Medical Association and abide by thier terms and conditions.
If you think we are not living up to those standards, you can contact the CPD team at the SA Medical Association on +27 (0) 12 481 2000.
The number of CPD points you earn depends on the activity you complete:
Most CPD activities on this platform are Level 1 and will award either 1 or 2 points.
Typically, if you attend:
To ensure your points are recorded, log in before completing an activity and submit any required questionnaires.
For details on how to register on the Medical Education Network, we've put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions
We understand it can be frustrating if you’re unable to access an event or questionnaire.
Please double-check that you’re registered with us and logged in before trying again.
If you have questions regarding your Registration, you can access the Registration Help section here
Still having trouble? Don’t worry—we’re here to help! Contact us, and we’ll assist you as soon as possible.
The HPCSA mandates that you should pass a CPD-associated questionnaire with at least 70%.
You have three attempts to pass a questionnaire on MedED.
Suppose you don’t pass after three tries. In that case, we will block further attempts on this questionnaire to ensure that no false players are trying to access your account or fraudulently complete activities.

Yes, you do!
The great news is that while you are no longer required to submit your activities to the HPCSA, we understand that you do need reassurance that your points are available should you need them.
We offer our practitioners two options:
1. When you complete a CPD questionnaire activity with us, you will find a certificate available on the Congratulations page. You can either print or download that certificate from that page
2. We also store a copy of your certificate for you. Simply log on, navigate to your Profile, and navigate to My eLearning. You will find the certificates and downloads available for any activity you have completed on our channel.
First, the good news! If you are registered with the HPCSA, once you have completed and passed your activity, your job is done!
At the end of each month – usually on the 30th - we will submit your points to the HPCSA on your behalf
You don’t have to do anything else!
We’ll email you a confirmation once your points have been uploaded so you can have peace of mind.
Once the HPCSA has uploaded your records, you will then receive an email from them so you have double confirmation.
If you’re registered with a different healthcare council (e.g., if you’re a pharmacist), your CPD activities may still count towards your professional requirements.
After you complete an activity with us, you will see a certificate on the page indicating your successful completion.
Additionally, if you are logged on, you can go to your Profile and view your eLearning sections to download a copy there.
You should submit that certificate to your Registration Council.
If you’re unsure about your council’s requirements, we recommend reaching out to them directly.
There may be two reasons for this:
1. We upload the attendee register within 48 hours of the LIVE event.
It may be that we have not yet uploaded it.
If you believe our uploads are late, you are welcome to contact us to follow up, and we'll check into it for you.
2. To earn CPD points for a webinar, you must be online for at least 90% of the session.
If your points aren’t reflecting, it may be because the system didn’t log you for the required time.
Think there’s been an error? Let us know, and we’ll check for you.
Your MP number is captured when you first register on our platform.
If there’s a mistake, don’t stress! We’ll help you fix it.
For security reasons, you can’t update your MP number yourself.
Drop us a line, give us as much detail as you can, and we’ll sort it out for you.

We’re here for you! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Thanks for being part of the MedED community—we’re excited to have you with us!
