Is the Medical Education Network a CPD Provider?

The Medical Education Network is an independent medical education and information publishing company. We offer a range of high-quality, clinically-robust CPD content to support the professional development of healthcare practitioners.

We obtain accreditation for our activities from the South African Medical Association and abide by their terms and conditions. If you think we are not living up to those standards, you can contact the CPD team at the SA Medical Association on +27 (0) 12 481 2000.

How do I earn CPD points on MedED?

We offer a range of CPD activities including webinars, podcasts, case studies, and text articles. Each month, you can typically expect at least one Clinical and one Ethical CPD activity.

All current CPD activities are listed on the FocusON CPD Academy page. You will need to be registered with MedED and logged in before completing an activity and receiving your points.

How do the CPD points work on MedED?

Most CPD activities on this platform are Level 1 and will award either 1 or 2 points. Here’s what to expect:

+Live Webinar — 1 Level 1 point per hour of live streaming
+On-demand Webinar — 1 Level 1 point per hour of content
+Podcast — 1 Level 1 point per hour, plus 1 additional point for completing the associated questionnaire
+Clinical Article — 2 Level 1 points per hour of content
+Case Study — 1 Level 1 point per hour of content

To ensure your points are recorded, log in before completing an activity and submit any required questionnaires.

I can’t access my event or MCQ questionnaire

I failed the Accreditation MCQ twice — what happens now?

After two failed attempts, access to the MCQ is blocked as per SAMA accreditation requirements. We recommend revisiting the content before attempting again.
