This Privacy Statement covers The Medical Education Network (MedED)’s treatment of personally identifiable information (“personal information”) that The Medical Education Network (MedED)’s Platform gathers when you access the sites and assets controlled/owned by MedED.

The Medical Education Network (MedED)’s Platform collects information from you when you:

  • Complete your accreditation activities
  • Complete our surveys

  • Professional information including your HPCSA or other registration number, area of speciality or expertise, area of interest, and whether you are in government or private organisations

Any and all information provided by users of our website/s, event registrants, survey respondents and all other readers and customers of our products and services is kept strictly confidential and never sold, reused, rented, loaned or otherwise disclosed.

We also collect:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address information you provide in your communications with us or on registering on our website/s
  • Details about how you use our website/s including content accessed, searches conducted, length of visit, login details, time and date of visit
  • Your opinions as expressed in chat, forums and interviews
  • Content and links accessed in our system-generated emails
  • Your accreditation activities

We analyse our site logs and strive to constantly improve the value of our content. These logs are not personally identifiable and we make no attempt to link them with individuals that browse the site. We track IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server and administer our website/s, and to gather broad demographic information.

You agree that we may share information with our clients to help them better understand our services and user demographics, but we will never disclose information about individual users.

Privacy of Your E-Mail Address

The Medical Education Network (MedED)’s Platform sites do, on occasion, provide newsletters and alerts which keep our readers abreast of the latest news and events occurring on the platform. MedED also provides invites to events and seminars hosted through its platform.

Accessing this platform is free, but individuals must request to join our mailing lists by signing up through a form on our website/s. Users are required to give their contact information including name, e-mail address and speciality, as well as demographic information including regional location and nature of place of work.

Recipients of our newsletters can, at any time, unsubscribe using the instructions provided at the top and bottom of each newsletter.

We do not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease the addresses on our mailing list to anyone under any circumstances. Third-parties will never contact our users through the use of our e-mail newsletter lists except through placement within the newsletters themselves, or unless users specifically ask to be placed on such a list.

From time to time, The Medical Education Network (MedED)’s Platform conducts online surveys. Participation is completely voluntary and respondents are given a choice whether to disclose requested demographic information.

Where contact information is requested it is only to avoid duplicate entries and to alert the respondent when survey results are posted online. Subject to prior permission given by the respondent, such information may be shared with third-party sponsors of such surveys. All responses collected on our online surveys are completely confidential. Only the aggregate results of data analysis are used and reported.
