In partnership with Boston Scientific, the Medical Education Network is proud to present this LIVE webinar — an in-depth look at how Interventional Radiology (IR) is transforming men’s health.
Jointly presented by Dr Dale Creamer, Head of Interventional Radiology at Groote Schuur Hospital, and Dr Gareth Bydawell, Interventional Radiologist in private practice in Durban and an honorary lecturer at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, this session explores how interventional radiology (IR) is reshaping care — from cancer treatment to quality-of-life interventions.

About Your Presenters
Dr Gareth Bydawell completed his medical degree at the University of Cape Town in 1998.
He specialised in Radiology at St George’s Hospital, London in 2008, and completed an Interventional Radiology Fellowship there in 2009. He passed the EBIR board exam in 2014.
Dr Bydawell is the chairperson of the RSSA SAINTS subgroup (South African Interventional Society).
He is a partner at Lake Smit & Partners in Durban, holds a European Board of Interventional Radiology Diploma, and is an honorary lecturer at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital.
He actively contributes to the growth of interventional radiology in South Africa.
Dr Dale Creamer is Head of Interventional Radiology at Groote Schuur Hospital, a senior lecturer at the University of Cape Town (UCT), and currently practices at UCT Private Academic Hospital.
He earned his MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and completed his MMed in Diagnostic Radiology at Stellenbosch University. In 2021, he was awarded the FC Rad Diag., and, later, a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology from the University of Calgary, where he developed a special interest in women’s health.
Driven to advance the field locally, he is committed to establishing a sub-specialist training programme in Interventional Radiology in South Africa.
Dale is the academic lead on this CPD Programme.

Interventional Radiology (IR) in oncology is transforming cancer care. While many clinicians are aware of IR, fewer fully realise just how effective it can be—and the many new options it offers for patient-centred care. From diagnosis to treatment and palliation, IR significantly expands the therapeutic toolbox. As IR becomes more integrated into cancer care, it’s crucial for clinicians to understand which patients may benefit and how to effectively incorporate these targeted treatments into multidisciplinary plans for personalised, precision-based oncology care.
