About this Activity
Anaesthesia in elderly patients poses significant challenges due to age-related physiological changes, including reduced cardiovascular reserve and altered drug metabolism, which increase the risk of haemodynamic instability and prolonged recovery.
What You Will Learn
1. Hemodynamic Stability: Analysing the effects of propofol and remimazolam on blood pressure, heart rate, and vascular tone and determining which drug better maintains cardiovascular stability in elderly patients.
2. Level of Consciousness: Examining how these anaesthetics impact perioperative consciousness, including recovery times and the risk of sedation-related complications in elderly patients.
3. Clinical Decision-Making: Providing insights into the factors influencing the choice between propofol and remimazolam for anaesthesia in elderly patients.
This activity is accredited for 1 Level 1 Clinical point. To receive your accreditation points, you must complete both the article and the associated questionnaire.
HPCSA-registered healthcare professionals
On completion of both activities, HPCSA-registered healthcare professionals will receive 1 Level 1 CPD points.
The Medical Education Network will submit a record of your completed activities to the HPCSA at the end of each month. You will receive a notification email from us informing you that this has been done.
Non-HPCSA-registered healthcare professionals.
